September Time

August has somehow been over run in my blog. I'm not sure if enough people read my blog that it was even noticed but it happened. The major thing that happened was that I had my wisdom teeth removed. I laid on the couch for a few days just waiting for my mouth to work. I hate the feeling of numb mouth! I always feel so sloppy. I still haven't quite gotten used to the way my mouth works now. I was becoming dependent on those teeth... which is why it was so important for me to get them out but I just hope that I get used to it soon.
Last Saturday I had a lot of fun!!! I went to learn how to make jam from my grandmother. I have always loved her peach jam and I decided that there was no better time than the present to ask her to make some with me and so we spent the afternoon together and she showed me her little tricks and secrets to making good jam.
I've been doing a lot of research for this new book I'm working on writing. Each day I decide a little bit more and I give a new character life. I'm feeling really good about this one! So hopefully I will have a lot of luck.
So, nothing too interesting but that is what is going on in my life... the life of an aspiring writer living life day to day and trying to learn as I go.

July

Wow.... I am behind. July was super crazy! I work at a hotel so with it being summer a lot more people are staying in the hotel and we are understaffed to handle it, so I've ended up working a bit more than I actually intended on.
We had a great fourth of July. We just did our own little fireworks show and we ate watermelon and corn on the cob.
On July 20th we left on my 10th trip to the Oregon coast. YAY for my 10th time. This time was a little different though because we went with the Young side of the family and I had never been on vacation with them before. There were 10 of us on this trip and that is also way more people than I have ever been on vacation with before so that was a good experience for me.
We stayed in Waldport in a big house with the most beautiful fireplace I've ever seen in my entire life. Okay so I might be easily impressed but I thought it was super cool!!
See, is't that rather awesome?
On Monday (which was probably my favorite day of the trip) we drove down to just south of Yachats (which is probably my favorite city) and we went to some tide pools. I had never really wandered around and just looked at tide pools like that so I really enjoyed it. We even found a starfish out of the water far enough that we could touch it. I've touched a starfish before but never in the wild.

Then later that day Tyson and I went to my favorite restaurant ever! It is a little place called The Drift Inn and the food is so fabulous that I can't even stand it! I crave it so often. I love their fish and chips, and Tyson had a lovely looking halibut burger. But the most incredible thing on the menu is the marionberry  cobbler with homemade ice cream. Oh my word it is the most fabulous thing I have ever tasted!!!
Then later that day we all drove up to Newport and walked around the docks. We got some taffy, I love saltwater taffy from the coast!
On Wednesday we went to my favorite store, Manoosh... haha it is run by a lady named Manoosh and is is so funny. I buy a very large percent of my accessories there and she is so nice to me! She knows how to run her business! And she has a website that you can order things and she will make them and you can go pick them up (she won't ship them out because she has to see how things look on you before she sells them too you. I'm hoping that next year we can design a hat for Tyson.
We also found this adorable little used book store and we got a little too interested in a conversation with the owner of the bookstore. We found a wonderful set of JRR Tolkiens Lord Of The Rings for a great price.
Thursday we went to another place I had never been before the theme park the Enchanted Forest.

Over all we had a really nice trip and I can't wait for our next trip back to Oregon!!!
Now since back we have gone back to work and both been working like crazy. Not a whole lot going on but I will be better at blogging and keeping up to date!

Super Epic Lego Time!!

Build With Legos, of course that made the list of things to do this summer, and while we have done it many times I decided not to count it until super epic lego time. Now, for our anniversary Tyson and I decided to have super epic lego time. So, we saved up, and had a little help from my Mom as our anniversary gift and we ended up with these legos for super epic lego time. Oh my word it was so much fun! We really enjoyed it and I look forward to rebuilding these sets over and over again for a very long time!

All Around the Fire

Here I am... sitting by the campfire.... roasting... an Easter Peep. Yes, I am roasting a peep. Now, I had never done this before but Tyson INSISTED that this was the only way I would ever get him to eat a peep.So I decided that I must try it if he felt so strongly about it. Goodness sake it was good! I will still eat them plain too but I like peeps much better than normal marshmallows. One of the really nice things about roasting a peep was that the outside hardened and made it a lot less messy to eat!!

I had never before roasted a Starburst, but I had heard wonderful things about doing so. So, with my summer fun I figured I might as well try this... and just as roasting peeps was awesome... so was this! Everything about a roasted starburst was fabulous! Even my Grandmother loved it! This will be happening around every campfire I ever have from now on!

And last but not least, I did make a smores. I'm not huge on them, I've never been as obsessed with them as many but for traditions sake I always do it once a summer. This time I decided that I would use one of the peeps instead of a marshmallow. Lol, it tasted very similar but it made me laugh hard to see the ears sticking out of my smore... poor little bunny. Haha.

Old Faithful

Okay, so it was also on this list of summer things to see old faithful. I have seen the awesome, famous, geyser many times in my life, but I didn't have the opportunity to see it last summer and I decided that wouldn't be okay for this summer!  So, while on our trip into Yellowstone National park we drove over to the many seen thing and lucked out! We walked up just as it went off and we had a great view without any of the wait.

We also ended up going and seeing a pretty little waterfall that I hadn't ever seen before. It isn't very often that we find something so close to the path that I've driven so many times that I've never seen. I was very excited to stop and look at this beautiful site.

My silly mother HATES taking pictures, but I insisted that she sit on this bench and take a picture with me... so here it is. I figured since I insisted on it I clearly should put it up for anyone and everyone to see!

Oh, and lastly another geyser that we found on out little trip in to the park. This one goes pretty much constantly! It was really pretty! I love seeing nature and all the things God created!

Tinfoil Dinner

When I was younger and went to girls camp every summer, we frequently made tinfoil dinners, and I decided that this was something that I needed to do this summer, so it became number 35 on my list of things to try to do this summer. Last weekend, we did just this, but a little different than I had always done before. Usually I had done it with hamburger but this time we went with chicken.

Our meal turned out so well! I really enjoyed it! We had some really great potatoes, and some bacon. (Tyson is somewhat bacon obsessed.) But it was really good! I am glad we branched out and tried chicken!

Throwing Away the Flip Flops

Okay, so I should start this post off with a little bit of a catch up... last weekend I did indeed get something off my summer list!!! I played the card game war (#95) and it was actually really fun! We played several rounds, and it went a lot faster than I remember as a kid... when I was little is seemed to take SOOOO long but it didn't feel nearly as long any more. Getting older does weird things doesn't it.
Anyway... onto the flip flops. Now this isn't meant to offend anyone this is just me personally and I'm sorry to the many who I know love them but I HATE FLIP FLOPS!!! A part of me never really like them, but then I went off to BYU-I where I didn't have to deal with them... people put on shoes that actually looked good with their outfits and I didn't have to listen to the smack smack smack all the time. I didn't have to see people tripping over them (I myself trip over them all the time if I wear them, they are the hardest things to walk in! I would be better off wearing 4 inch heels all day). So, I only own one pair of the things, and I bought those last year for the beach... meaning them to be strictly for the beach. Then sadly if I was leaving in a hurry and didn't have time sometimes they would end up on my feet and I would end up face planting into the car door (yes this really happened). So, I have sandals for this summer, real sandals that are super cute, and I also have ballet flats to slip on when I need to hurry and run out the door... I finally have no need for these dreaded flip flops and I finally get to throw them out!!! Yay for my own sake of never having to wear flip flops again!!!
